KARE 11 Decision 2024
Overview
Election Day in the news world is like the Super Bowl. The hustle is real and you have to be on it. KARE’s producers are seasoned professionals who know exactly what to plan for, and especially what they want to see in design and animation for the big day. Of course there was a budget to adhere to, and I kept the whole thing under budget and within the deadline.
The look was incorporated into KARE 11’s promos. The promos were so successful, they boosting overall viewership that night, landing KARE in the number one spot over all other local competitors.
The ask
Create mockups for producer approval. Prepare large (!) banners for print and communicate with print vendors as necessary. Create supporting digital visuals for on set screens and animated broadcast visuals.
Set mockups
I melded existing design elements from both the TEGNA Design Tank and NBC, crafting a custom look that elevated KARE’s brand and kept talent looking sharp and professional all night.
The banners — 16 feet tall and about 3 feet wide! — cover up shelving that more often than not clutters and distracts more than it enhances the overall layout of a scene.
Social posts
As in past years, KARE was honored to have experts Jeff Hayden and Brian McClung on the show to offer insight into election data and strategy.
