I’m Jay Marie, a non-binary designer with 12 years of experience in the design industry. I had an 8 year stint in Austin, TX where I was eating breakfast tacos, the best BBQ, and enjoying the change of scenery for my personal life and my career. Now I’m back in the Twin Cities enjoying the dive bars and breweries in NE Minneapolis.
I've enjoyed so many opportunities that have helped make me stronger in my field: I've refined my motion design skills, successfully taught myself programs (and even wrote user manuals for them), learned educational design basics, and picked up video editing. I'm someone who enjoys a challenge and doesn't often flinch at change. Doing something new every week keeps my brain happy.
In my personal work, I enjoy creation for creation’s sake. I write comics to explore my feelings, share a story, or illustrate a thought. You can see some of that work on my Instagram. Currently I’m enjoying crocheting blankets and scarves. Hopefully a making a sweater is in my near future?
On most weekends I’m tending to my indoor plants, taking pride in my Pink Princess Philodendron and my Monstera Standleyana. In good weather I’m cycling around the Greenway with my boyfriend Mike. Otherwise I’m taking a nap with my 15-year-old cat Lydia; or I’m doing clicker training my 2-year-old cat Roanoke. He’s very good at posing for treats.
